Chinese medicinal herbs

Chinese herbal therapy is still less known than acupuncture in the West. Actually surprising when you consider that in China this is a therapy method on a par with acupuncture and is just as important and just as frequently used. Medicinal herbs have been used there for longer than acupuncture. In contrast to western medicinal herbs, it is usually not just a single herb that is supposed to bring about the desired effect, but rather there are mixtures of up to 20 herbs Herbal medicine is a combination of medicinal herbs specifically tailored to the person concerned. The selection criteria are the same as in acupuncture - the basic principles in Chinese medicine are used, only that they are logically implemented a little differently here.

This means that in order to prescribe medicinal herbs, according to our ideas, a thorough intake interview is required as well as a method adopted from China. Pulse and tongue diagnostics.

What are the advantages of medicinal herbs over acupuncture and what are the disadvantages?

In general, the Chinese idea is that you move body energy with acupuncture; not more. You remove obstacles, add more where there is too little and substract where there is too much. So far, so good: But what happens when someone no longer has enough energy, or simply has a fundamental deficiency?

Then acupuncture - in general - alone does not seem to be sufficient. Simply put: when the tank is empty, the car does not move: nothing happens. So the question arises where to get this fuel. The aim of giving medicinal herbs is to replenish used energy and restore reserves. renew so that the body can work with it. So much for the theoretical explanation.

Risks and side effects

When dosed correctly, there are generally few known side effects; If at all, according to current knowledge, the side effects usually affect the gastrointestinal tract.

Of course - as with everything you eat, from apples to Christmas goose, among others  - allergic reactions occur. But this is just as common as with any food or medication. It is generally taken 3 times a day, if possible before meals.

Preparation

Traditionally, you usually work with raw, dried or appropriately prepared herbs, boil them for an hour and then strain the whole thing. This process is very time-consuming and unfortunately also very odor-intensive. We mostly work with concentrates; d. h. They are active ingredient concentrates of the corresponding medicinal herbs. These are dissolved in warm, not boiling water. It's all about getting the ingredients into solution, not about boiling them. Many people who travel a lot for work fill the appropriate amount into a thermos flask and then drink their herbs on the go.

Cost

So that you can roughly calculate how much the herbs will cost, here is an approximate and non-legally binding idea. The prices are determined by the respective pharmacy. Therapy costs are approx. 40 - 50 euros per month.
